Danish Forest and Nature Agency works to promote sustainability in the administration of Denmark's natural and historical heritage in a balance between use and protection.
The Danish Tourist Board has for many years - together with the tourist industry - been marketing and developing bicycle tourism in Denmark and there is now registered a still increasing interest in spending the holiday on bicycle.
When it comes to routes for tourists, who want to spend their holiday on two wheels, Denmark is absolutely in the lead. Denmark has at least 10,000 km connected bicycle routes. For long, the 10 national bicycle routes (3,500 km) have been the main bicycle marketing products of Denmark together with regional and local routes, but the increasing interest for bicycle holiday during the last few years, has resulted in the establishment of four new routes with international approach. Three of them enter into a system of international bicycle routes, namely "The Baltic Bike Route", The Bicycle Route Copenhagen-Berlin" and "The North Sea Cycle Route". "The route around the "Limfjorden" opens this year.
